Susie Jones spent her early life at Shingwauk Indian Residential School. She married and raised six children. Upon retiring from the State of Michigan, Department of Social Services, she returned to her home reserve for the first time. Upon being elected to the Walpole Island First Nation Board of Education she started her journey on helping to improve education for local students. Eventually she served on the Lambton Kent District School Board and various committees. Her passion is sharing her first-hand knowledge on the residential school system.
