COVID-19 Case Update - October 22

We are committed to keeping our College community informed when we learn of any member of the College community who has tested positive for COVID-19 and has been on campus. To that end, our simplified COVID-19 Case Update is distributed is every week. Incidence details are limited due to privacy requirements.

This past week three COVID-19 cases were reported to our Emergency Operations Centre (EOC). Campuses with no active cases are not listed in the update, nor are cases where the individual has not been on campus. Please note that if you do not see previously reported cases in the update, they have been resolved.

Morningside Campus

The EOC was informed by the Chair of Practical Nursing that a faculty member has tested positive for COVID-19. The faculty member was last on campus on Oct. 19. The faculty member and three “close contact” students are following all public health guidelines for exposure and confirmed COVID-19 directives. Tentative return date for the cohort is Oct. 28. (Information received on Oct. 20.)

Progress Campus

The EOC was informed by the Manager, Sustainability, that a cleaning staff member has tested positive for COVID-19. The cleaner was last on campus on Oct. 9. The cleaner is following all public health guidelines for confirmed COVID-19 directives. There was no identified risk from Toronto Public Health to the college community for this occurrence. Tentative resolution date for the cleaner is Oct. 24. (Information received on Oct. 16.)

The EOC was informed by the Manager, Sustainability, that a second cleaning staff member has tested positive for COVID-19. The cleaner was last on campus on Oct. 19. The cleaner is following all public health guidelines for confirmed COVID-19 directives. Tentative resolution date for the cleaner is Oct. 28. (Information received on Oct. 21.)

In each instance, communications to the impacted faculty and students was sent with support information, and classes pivot to online learning for at least two weeks. The instruction labs, studios attended areas and classrooms receive a deep cleaning, along with common surfaces and all washrooms. Incidence reports are sent to the Toronto Public Health (TPH) reporting hotline.
