Applied Social Research & Data Management
|Lecture hours per week|
|Lab hours per week|
The purpose of this course is to prepare students to look at the collection, production, interpretation and use of data and research as it relates to a critical reflective and anti-oppressive approach to practice. It includes an orientation to value issues that arise when using technology, statistical procedures, data collection and maintenance in academic and practice settings. Students will examine both the benefits of technology and barriers in accessing technology and information in society and if this in turn maintains power differentials and compromises progress towards social justice. This course will also provide students with an opportunity to further develop skills with computer technology and program literacy.
