Business and Future of Media

Who pays for journalism? Today’s journalists need to know the answer to that question. In this research-based, seminar course, students will gain an understanding of the business of media through an exploration of the relationship between content, audience and revenue.
They will dissect models of distribution and engagement and discuss trends, predictions and future opportunities in media inside and outside the traditional newsroom. Students also will explore current and emerging issues and trends in media to prepare them to take part in, and perhaps, lead the conversations wherever stories are being told.
