This course aims to help students navigate a career as an artist-educators and/or community artist, analyzing and differentiating diverse arts education and community programs currently in operation. Students will review case studies and identify niches for new programming, while also attending lectures and talk back sessions with professionals in arts education. This course also features a weekly mentorship, where students will spend two hours each week in conversation and job shadowing with a professional arts educator. Students will be expected to identify a field placement partner, to prepare a personal career plan, and to identify ways of individualizing applications of coursework across the program.
