Learners will examine the critical role of interpretation and public programming/education in helping culture and heritage organizations to engage their communities in a meaningful and long-term way. Learners will explore how organizations create memorable learning experiences for visitors, develop community outreach approaches and plan for the delivery, staffing, management and evaluation of programs. Policy development, learning theory, communication and interpretative skills, and the methodology of program design will be covered using a variety of teaching techniques while providing hands-on learner experience in program planning and implementation.
