Description: The purpose of this course is to further develop and reinforce skills to communicate with machine shop operators in accordance with mechanical drafting conventions such as: sectioning, bills of materials and assembly drawing preparation, limits and fits, dimension tolerancing and fastener design. In this way, the course reinforces practical concepts learned on the machine shop floor. In order to learn the drafting conventions, students in this course use AutoCAD 2000 to produce orthographic part and assembly drawings. The course follows a lecture plus practice format during which students have the opportunity to examine either a plastic model of the assignment or/and a 3D model projected on the lab screen.
