Electrical Aspects of Network Cabling

Course Code ETEC-129
Lecture hours per week
Lab hours per week
Course Availability: Open
Description: In this course student will learn network related standards, the fundamental principles of AC electricity as it pertains to signal fundamentals and the electrical properties of network cables. Students will review a coax cable’s equivalent LRC circuit and be introduced to the engineering parameter underlying voice and data cable design. Students will be introduced to a signal’s propagation effects, such as attenuation, distortion, noise and amplifier gain. Students will use a digital oscilloscope and digital multimeter to measure various waveforms and pulses, within RC, RL, RLC circuits.
