Description: In order to fully understand what it means to have an intellectual disability in our society, it is helpful to observe, first hand, some of the places where people who have intellectual disabilities experience(d) life on a day to day basis. Historically and up to the present day, people who have intellectual disabilities have been excluded, congregated and segregated from the mainstream of society. This history continues to be represented in places where people live and work. Observation Placement will provide the students with at least three experiential visits to analyze and understand people's life experiences.Pre-requisite: DSWP 112 Valued Social Roles; Co-requisite: DSWP 123 History of Disabilities: Images and Role Perceptions. Course Length: 30 hours, 2 hours per week for 15 weeks. Minimum Grade Requirement: C
