Financial Management in the Arts
|Lecture hours per week|
|Lab hours per week|
Working in an ever-evolving contract-driven field means that artist-educators and community artists must have a good understanding of financial practices. Emphasis in this course will be placed on grant writing (costing a program, articulation of an idea, establishing metrics for project impact), budget creation, basic accounting (including cashflow and balance sheets), and organizational law (types of businesses, good governance, etc.). Students will also learn how to organize one’s personal accounting and tax practices.
