||The course focuses on developing the skills necessary for successful grant applications, fundraising techniques and major gifts for not-for-profit and public sector cultural and heritage organizations. Study of basic fundraising techniques will deal with relevant funding sources, awareness of available research materials and ability to construct coherent, cogent proposals. Strategies for raising funds from individuals, corporations, sponsors and foundations are reviewed and analyzed. Methodologies for developing a complete fundraising plan are studied. By examining the fundraising process with respect to major gifts and major gift vehicles, learners identify the characteristics of prospects, conduct successful prospect research, plan for individual solicitation(s) and foster the cultivation and retention of major donor(s).
