Mathematical knowledge becomes meaningful and powerful when it is applied. Math in the Digital Age will enable students to not only focus on content of social issues, but also to develop an understanding of the numerical representation of facts associated with various social issues. Through the use of online sources and in class exercises, students will get a review in basic numeric and algebraic computations, word problem solving, Excel and critical analysis of statistics. These skills will enable students to examine, perform mathematical computations and draw conclusions related to social issues presented in the course.
