It is the profession of ‘Meeting Manager’ that brings such experiences to life. Organizing an exceptional meeting, conference or corporate group incentive trip requires superior ‘project’ management skills; the desired skill set would include an ability to prioritize and manage conflicting demands; operating with a ‘strong sense of urgency’; excellent attention to detail with strong verbal and written communication skills and most of all, a love of travel. Ordinarily, it is the end-user or consumer that is courted by travel entrepreneurs. The Meetings & Incentive Travel Management program explores corporations as the distinct market segment for meetings, conferences and incentive travel arrangements. Some companies hire Meeting Managers as employees of the firm; others contract out their meetings and incentive travel requirements to independent meeting and incentive travel specialists. In this course, students will learn to plan, prepare, and execute exceptional programs by following the life cycle of a program from sales and planning through to execution and on-site management – in essence, the very abilities sought by prospective employers.
