Description
Students will be introduced to the basic principles of microbiology. Students will build upon the concepts from Introduction to Biological Systems and will have practical application in the Microbial Techniques course. Lecture and discussion topics include: the study of microscopic organisms: Bacteria, Viruses, Protozoans, Algae and Fungi, The isolation, cultivation and identification of microbes; Host-Parasite relationships, as they relates to disease; Microbial and molecular genetics; growth and control of microbes, and the human immune response to microbes.
