The purpose of this course is to develop the students knowledge base of basic pharmacology. Principles of drug action and drug interaction, including drug action across the lifespan will be discussed. The student will explore the interaction between drugs and the physiological, psychological and pathological processes occurring in the body. Application of the nursing process to the administration will be a major focus of this course. Active involvement in case scenarios will provide students with an ability to apply principles of pharmacology in the administration of medications.
