Placement 1 - GTA

Students experience a 4-6 hour/ week placement inside or beyond the GTA community in nongovernmental, nonprofit, governmental or community settings to acquire familiarity with the practitioner goals, and responsibilities. (15 weeks). Flexible placement arrangements can be made to permit students to adjust the experience to student employment responsibilities.

Course Learning Outcomes

The student will reliably demonstrate the ability to:

  1. Apply practice principles that lie within the scope of practice guidelines for a community development worker.
  2. Apply principles of CD practice through the planning, implementing, evaluating of CD related activities and programs.
  3. Establish and maintain professional, ethical working relationships that address conflict of interests.
  4. Execute roles and responsibilities required of a community development practitioner within a specific community agency based on research related to the theory and practice of the community development field.
  5. Perform self- evaluations and self- appraisals related to the execution of CD roles and responsibilities.
