The course introduces quality assurance for the manufacturing industries. The course presents a general overview of plant sanitation, developing a plant sanitation program; cleaning and sanitation procedures of equipment and premise; learning the different categories of cleaning agents and sanitizers, sanitation standard operating procedures (SSOPs), verification and pre-operational assessment, biofilm, waste management, and pest control. It provides theoretical concepts and practical experience in the design of plant sanitation program, and exposes students to cleaning and sanitation approaches taken in food-producing organizations.
