Description: Policy and Social Welfare Systems is an introduction to those factors that contribute to the development of social policy and social welfare in Canada. In particular, social policy, legislation and the models of service delivery that affects persons who have intellectual disability in Ontario will be explored. Social welfare policy is explored by looking at: philosophical values, theories and assumptions about social welfare from political, geographical and historical perspectives. The course also examines the Canadian context of our social welfare system and social welfare programs for specific groups. Course Length: 30 hours, 2 hours per week for 15 weeks
