| Description | This course will provide an overview of the development of North American popular music, including major genres, artists, and works. Emphasis is placed on cultural context, globalization, and technology. Genres covered include blues, gospel, jazz, rhythm & blues, rock & roll, soul, funk, disco, and rock-derived styles. |
