Professional Skills Development (45 hours)
This course will prepare students for the field placement experience by having them develop and demonstrate job search, interviewing and networking skills, and by giving them the opportunity to build a strong resume, write a compelling cover letter, and begin to compile a professional career portfolio. In addition, researching placement/career opportunities, learning about community resources and state of the art media applications and examining current trends related to workplace wellness will assist the student to prepare for the semester two placement experience. During this semester, guest speakers from various employment setting/organizations will deliver presentations outlinging the nature of their current placement position, the skills required to meet the job requirements, the working atmosphere in the organiztion and what additional skills, if any, would be of value to acquire.
