Description: The delivery of basic services such as health and primary education, drinking water and sanitation, agricultural support and irrigation, roads and other basic infrastructure is of critical importance especially to the poor. This course examines the role of local governments and other actors in successful pro-poor service delivery. Students will analyze the challenges and costs of service delivery, the planning process and accountability mechanisms, and delivery innovations that involve both local and donor-led efforts.
