Deb Matthews is a professor in the Child and Youth Care Program at Centennial College. She holds a Masters Degree in Education from Central Michigan University and an Undergraduate Degree in Child and Youth Care from Ryerson University. She has over thirty years of experience as a Child and Youth Care Practitioner working in addiction services, children's mental health, autism services and child and youth care education. Deb worked for many years with children and their families in both day treatment and residential services and served as program manager for two children's mental health centres. Deb was also part of the team that developed a crisis intervention program for Ontario education aimed at supporting young people to be successful in school. Her professional interests include understanding the factors that contribute to student success and internationalization in education. Deb teaches in the areas of family work, child development, therapy techniques and evidence-based practice.
