How to Submit a Manuscript

How to Submit a Manuscript

All submissions should be emailed to CJLAS@centennialcollege.ca with the manuscript attached as a Word document (.docx). Files submitted as PDFs will not be considered.

Upload a cover page alongside your submission that contains names, bios (roughly 50 words) and contact information for all authors. Additionally, please include an abstract of 200 words or fewer of your manuscript as well as a maximum of 5 keywords for your submission.

Although the CJLAS does not enforce strict page limits, we recommend that you aim to be succinct to best capture readers’ engagement.

The Journal is currently accepting submissions for the upcoming Summer Issue. If you are interested in contributing or have any questions, kindly send an email to CJLAS@centennialcollege.ca with your proposal and/or manuscript. The Editorial Board also welcomes new research from first-time authors, offering guidance to contributors who may feel uncertain as to whether their subject matter rests within the Journal’s scope. Please feel free to contact us should you be interested in a prior assessment of your topic proposal.

Spring 2022 issue - Last date for submissions: 1 March 2022

Style Guidelines

Authors should consult the 7th (or latest) edition of the American Psychology Association (APA) citation and style guide. For all legal writings, authors should consult the 9th Edition of the Canadian Guide to Uniform Legal Citation (McGill Guide).

Editorial Process

All papers submitted to CJLAS are subject to a rigorous double-blind peer-review. This begins with a preliminary assessment to ensure that all submission requirements are met and that the paper embodies the general scope of the Journal. The peer-review process also ensures all submissions are checked for quality of research, importance and novelty of the topic, as well as adherence to the Journal’s scope and publication guidelines.

Authors should expect to receive one of the following decisions from the Editorial Board:

  • Accepted, no revisions needed: The manuscript is accepted for publication without any revisions or edits required by the author.
  • Accepted, minor revisions needed: The manuscript is accepted, but minor revisions need to be made by the author prior to publication.
  • Returned for major revisions and resubmit: Major revisions need to be made to the manuscript. The author is advised to make all recommended edits and resubmit for consideration. Manuscripts are limited to one offer of resubmission.
  • Rejected: Manuscript is rejected with no offer to resubmit due to either a major flaw or incompatibility to the journal’s scope.
