Former Grand Chief of the Nishnawbe Aski Nation

Harvey L. A. Yesno has a long standing commitment to business, economic, resource and community development initiatives. He demonstrates an ability to navigate the First Nations, Canada and Ontario landscape in roles such as Grand Chief of the Nishnawbe Aski Nation, Treaty # 9 and #5, from 2012 to 2015, Director of Aboriginal Stakeholder and Community Relations of the Ontario Ring of Fire Secretariat, Government of Ontario, from 2011 to 2012, and President and CEO of the Nishnawbe Aski Development Fund, Thunder Bay, Ontario from 1993 to 2010. Some of Harvey’s major achievements include:

  • Leading substantial growth in The Nishnawbe Aski Development Fund (NADF)
  • Creating and launching the strategic plan for the Eabametoong First Nation
  • Establishing the NADF Annual Business Awards to showcase aboriginal business in Northern Ontario
  • Acting as Board Chair of the Ontario First Nations Limited Partnership for 6 Years

Harvey has served on numerous volunteer boards, committees and government panels, holding board of director roles on 17 organizations and committees such as Founding Director of Eabametoong Social Economic Development Corporation and Director of Ontario First Nations Limited Partnership Inc. (OFNLP). He is an advocate for economic and business development, research and innovation. Conference speaker, role model and mentor to youth and emerging First Nation leaders. He is committed to family, faith, lifelong learning and the advancement of First Nations people.

Harvey is also a graduate of the College system himself with a Diploma in Avionics Maintenance Technology from Confederation College, Thunder Bay, Ontario.
