Centennial’s open house is usually held three times a year, before a new semester begins. It invites potential students, their parents, and family and friends to explore the college, its classrooms, and facilities. They’re welcomed by staff, faculty, and students who talk about the benefits about being a student at Centennial.

The School of Transportation held its own open house to the public on January 25, 2014. Prospective students learn more about Centennial and the School of Transportation, in particular. The general information session had a very genuine feel as it was held at Ashtonbee campus’ aircraft hangar.

Guests were invited to enter the lab training facilities and watch demonstrations. They separated into smaller groups to learn more about their programs of interest. Several professors were on-hand to talk about specific programs and the equipment they use for hands-on learning.

There was a brief introduction on how an electrical training board functions, which is used in the Automotive Service Technician program. Guests toured the Refinishing Lab, used for auto body repairs. A show and tell of an aircraft engine was conducted by the aircraft department’s Technologist. Meanwhile, a current student demonstrates how to use the Lincoln Electric virtual welder, which is practiced before students can enter the welding lab.

Centennial is inviting future students of all disciplines to its open house. The Connect with Centennial event will take place at each of the five campuses on March 23, 2014 at 1:00 pm. The School of Transportation will once again open its doors to curious learners. There will be campus tours, program information sessions, and a meet-and-greet with the faculty and future fellow students. Plus, there will be a contest with a prize of $2,000 towards your tuition.
