Westmark Inn Dawson is a beautiful premier hotel located in the wonderful historic town of Dawson City, Yukon. Owned and affiliated with Holland America and Princess Cruises we host a wide range of interesting travelers and tour groups throughout the season. We offer positions for Housekeeping, Guest Services, Maintenance, Culinary, and Administration. Applicants will hear from us within 3 days and will be offered a screening interview within 1 week! This may or may not be followed by a second interview with the department manager. After contacting 2 references we aim to offer a job to candidates within 7-10 days!

1. What are the benefits of working for your company as a summer student? What type of unique experience can a student gain from working for you?

Answer: "Our training will begin in mid-May and the season will typically end around September. We look for candidates that are available for the full season. You can expect to learn the high demands and great rewards that come with working in fast-paced hotel and restaurant operations. You will begin to understand the intricacies of the cruise industry in collaboration with overland tours and transportation logistics. Our property focusses on employee growth through cross-training, HAP innovations program (giving staff the opportunity to share their ideas and receive exceptional recognition for it), departmental advancements, and more! We ensure a fun and exciting work environment and offer opportunities to connect with fellow coworkers and the community through company events and sponsorships!"

2. What qualities are you looking for in an ideal candidate?

Answer: "Hardworking, reliable, positive, safety-orientated, works well independently, works well within a team as well, self-motivated, punctual, etc."

3. What additional information can you provide about the summer job postings you have

advertised with Centennial College?

Answer: "We offer discounted/rebated employee housing in the community where housing options are limited. As well as meal discounts/benefits, travel assistance, and cruise benefits after seasonal completion. Housing Type: Employee housing available; 56 beds total. Shared accommodation in fully furnished and stocked houses. Wi-Fi, laundry facilities, linens, TV, and local landline included."

4. Can summer students continue working part time with your organization during the school year?

Answer: "We are a seasonal hotel only." 

5. What is it like to work in (name of town/city)?  Do you provide assistance with relocation/accommodation?  Is it easy to find a place to live for the summer?

Answer: "We offer staff accommodation to all employees! At a subsidized rate with an additional end of season bonus. We ask all employees to arrive in Whitehorse,YT on the Saturday prior to their start date. We offer a 1 nights stay at our sister hotel in Whitehorse and transportation to Dawson City, YT the following day. Finding other options for housing in Dawson City can be very difficult otherwise. Additional details and questions can be further discussed in the interviews stage".
