Frequently Asked Questions
Q: When can I pick up my invitation and tickets to Convocation?
A: As an eligible graduate, you will receive an email via myCentennial indicating your invitation and tickets are ready at the end of May and beginning of June. Our Student Records Office will continue to clear students who applied to graduate right up until Convocation. The sooner you complete and submit your Application to Graduate form and resolve any outstanding issues such as equivalencies or grades, the sooner we can process your application.
Q: How many guests can I bring?
A: The Convocation Hall has a limited seating capacity; therefore, each graduate will be issued two (2) guest tickets. Seating is still granted on a first come first seated basis. Guests are required to have a ticket before entering the Convocation Hall. Additional tickets are not available.
Q: Where is Convocation being held?
A: The ceremony will be held in the Athletic and Wellness Centre at Progress Campus. Progress Campus is located at 941 Progress Avenue. A light reception at the Student Centre, Alumni Hall will follow your graduation ceremony.
Q: Is there a fee to graduate?
A: No. The fee is included in your Student Services Fee.
Q: Do I need to pay or rent a gown?
A: No. A black gown and liripipe or hood is provided to you for the ceremony. It must be returned immediately following the ceremony. You must return your gown and liripipe or hood before you pick up your certificate, diploma or degree.
Q: Do I wear a hat with my gown?
A: No. A liripipe is draped over your left shoulder upon graduating. Applied Degree graduates will receive hoods.
Q: I am not able to attend my ceremony do I still get my diploma?
A: Yes. Diplomas are available for pick up the week following Convocation at the Student Hub, Progress Campus. Following that week diplomas will be mailed to graduates. Please ensure your mailing address has been updated.
