Getting Ready for College

Getting Ready for College

At Centennial, we understand that coming to college represents a big change in your life. We hold orientations at the start of each semester, as well as events throughout the year to help with academic and personal success at Centennial. We hope to showcase the many supports that Centennial offers to you, and connect you with other students, staff and faculty, since they’ll all be  important in your future success.

The new learning style and environment of post-secondary education is exciting, but adjusting to it can be overwhelming. To help you transition into the post-secondary world smoothly, Centennial College offers a number of student services to answer your questions, offer support and ensure that you stay focused on your goals.

Want to know more about what your new college has to offer? Coming to Centennial Welcomes will tell you what you need to know.

Here’s what you can do at orientation:

  • Connect to your program, your school, your teachers, and most importantly, each other.
  • Get answers to any questions you have.
  • Learn more about your program, and how to succeed in it.
  • Obtain your Student Photo ID, parking permit, and information about MyCentennial.

Every little bit counts, so take advantage of each opportunity that arises - starting with Centennial Welcomes! Orientation is held the week before classes formally begin.

Services Fair

There’s plenty of different services available at Centennial College, as long as you know about them. That’s why we decided to start planning a Services Fair, to showcase all of the options available to you.

At the Services Fair, you can meet representatives from around the College who will let you know about all the free services we offer. Learn about new services, like the dual credential in Leadership and Peer Mentoring, and learn about improved services in the Library, Athletics and Recreation, and the Progress Campus Wellness Centre.

Successful Transitions: Advocacy - Resources – Training

The transition to college can be challenging, especially for students with disabilities. If that’s you, we’re here to help. For many of you, this will be the first time you need to advocate, organize, and utilize resources. Luckily, the Centre for Students with Disabilities and Centennial College have many resources to help you. To learn more about these resources we encourage students with a documented learning disability to attend our START Smart Summer Conference.
