We have a couple of tools that can help you understand what programs are the best match for you, and how Centennial can help you achieve your goals. The first is our Personality Test, which will take into consideration your interests, your mindset and your goals in life, and match you with appropriate programming, and the second is our Career Explorer, which will help you understand your career options and related employment statistics, and how to achieve your goals. You can find both tools on the homepage of the website. You may also find it helpful to connect with one of our advisors.
Centennial offers a fantastic tool called Career Explorer. It allows you to look up specific job titles or the types of jobs related to your studies, and provides salary info, job availability, geographical location of jobs, and more. Find this tool on the homepage of the College website. You may also want to check out the Federal Governement's Job Bank, which allows you to discover a job's main duties, prospects over the next few years, wage scales, and skills and requirements. Access the Job Bank here.
Before you can apply for your co-op, you must first be registered full-time in a co-op eligible program, meet program-specific requirements, and must attend a mandatory Co-op Info Session (details on the co-op webpage). Most co-op eligble programs require you to have completed 80-100% of your first year courses.
Access to courses is based on registration, so we would need to look at the your student record to figure it out. We recommend you reach out to admissions, or your success advisor.
Your pathway options to becoming a Motive Power apprentice include: Starting in high school co-op as an OYAP student, completing a Centennial College Certificate or Co-Op Diploma program and getting hired as an apprentice after graduation, or getting a job in the trades and having your employer register you as an apprentice.
Our Motive Power Technician program is a good way to follow the second option. You can take it by applying at the Ontario Colleges website.
Completing the two-year, four-semester program will put you on the path to becoming an Automotive Apprentice Technician or Service Technician.
To apply, you need to have high school diploma, or be a mature (19-plus) student, have taken English Grade 12 C or U level, of have taken a Centennial English Skills Assement, and you need to have taken Math Grade 11 M or U or 12, C, M or U or equivalent or take the Centennial College Engineering Math Skills Assessment for Admission.

We can confirm that the decision to hold the winter (current) and summer 2021 semesters as hybrid/online has been made and there will only be in person classes where necessary for labs and ensuring they fit with provincial capacity guidelines. We will continue to provide updates as they become available.

"Domestic Students who are encountering financial difficulty in paying for their tuition fee are first encouraged to apply for OSAP to finance their education and living cost. All domestic students are required to pay the tuition deposit each semester. If students who are in receipt of OSAP, are unable to pay the tuition deposit they can request to have their tuition deposit waive. If students opt not to apply for OSAP, they can apply for a Domestic Promissory Note Payment Plan. If the students are eligible for the Domestic Promissory Note Payment Plan, they will be able to pay their outstanding balance in installments by an assigned due date. Students will need to contact the Student Financial Services office to discuss these services. Please note International students will need to contact the International department to discuss their situation.
