Friendship Bench for Student Mental Health Fundraiser Nov 9

Students of Centennial's Public Relations & Corporate Communications program are hosting an event this Wednesday, November 9 called "Let's Make It a Conversation" to both raise money for the Friendship Bench charity and to raise awareness of student mental health. The event will take place from 4:30 PM to 9 PM at the Story Arts Centre in East York (Carlaw/Mortimer).
The evening will include a one-hour workshop and discussion with Friendship Bench founder Sam Fiorella, a ping-pong tournament, dinner, a meditation class run by Snow Lion Meditation Shop, and will conclude with a movie night. Please refer to the schedule below for the event details.
- 4:30 PM Workshop with Sam Fiorella of the Friendship Bench
- 5:30 PM Ping Pong tournament and other games
- 6:30 PM Meditation Class
- 7:15 PM Dinner, Movie screening of Inside Out
Event tickets are just $5, plus $5 entry if you wish to compete in the ping-pong tournament. Website registration also allows individuals to donate directly towards the establishment of a yellow Friendship Bench on their own campus by simply clicking on "Tickets" to reveal the donation option.
Help raise awareness
Through this event students aim to raise awareness of the cause, get students talking about mental health and end the stigma. The Friendship Bench has become the adopted signature event at the Story Arts Centre. Funds will be directed towards establishing benches at other campuses.
