Ontario’s Minister of Colleges and Universities (MCU) announced in mid-July that the province’s colleges and universities will be returning to in-class instruction this Fall. Assuming the continued progress of province-wide vaccination rates and improvements in key public health and health care indicators, in-person instruction and on-campus activities at Postsecondary Education (PSE) institutions will, this coming Fall, resume without capacity limits or physical distancing requirements. The easing of physical distancing requirements allows our College to continue planning to begin the Fall 2021 semester operating under Phase 3A of our COVID-19 Phases Plan with between 50 to 75 per cent of our teaching and learning conducted on campus. School Deans have contacted all registered students via their myCentennial email to confirm the program delivery method for their program; the number of students on campus for in-person learning will vary among our Schools and programs. If you are confirmed to be on campus this Fall semester, you will be required to wear a mask indoors, and we are mandated to practice stringent public health and government directives and workplace safety requirements to combat the spread of COVID-19.
Despite these unusual and challenging times, we remain focused on supporting your success, providing:
- Outstanding online courses
- Online access to library resources and supports
- Online academic advising
- Ongoing access to virtual mental health supports
- Access to inclusive student-support resources
- Creative virtual social spaces and activities to help combat isolation
- An inclusive learning environment you can access from anywhere in the world
Online learning is studying through courses, experiences, and delivery methods designed specifically to take advantage of the properties of digital technologies and online modalities: live online sessions that all students attend at the same time; learning delivered in a way that gives students the flexibility to access materials and interact at any time; or, a combination of both. With the affordances of diverse types of technology, online learning is robust, immersive, interactive, and engaging education within an environment that accommodates a collaborative learning community.
Courses with significant hands-on activity and requiring in-house instruction will be scheduled on our campuses in strict accordance with Public Health protocols. This ensures that you will continue to receive the rich academic content and high quality teaching you need to ensure your academic and future career success.
