Monday Message from Craig Stephenson, President and CEO

Many of you will recall that during the 2017-2018 academic year, Centennial College underwent the College Quality Assurance Audit Process (CQAAP), a regular, cyclical audit carried out by the Ontario College Quality Assurance Service (OCQAS).

It was an outstanding success! The CQAAP process included a comprehensive assessment of the effectiveness of the College’s quality assurance system against CQAAP Standards and Requirements. The College was awarded the highest rating, noting maturity in all our quality efforts and confirming that we met all provincial standards and requirements.

Since the conclusion of the audit, the College has been taking actions to address the areas identified for improvement by our own rigorous self-assessment as well as the audit panel’s recommendations. The summary of these actions is captured in the College’s Current State of Quality Assurance Activities Report (18-Month Follow-up Report).

The report details how we have addressed many of the 33 actions outlined and have made significant headway on the remainder. It was, as you can imagine, a moment of tremendous pride when we learned that the follow-up report was approved and well-received by the OCQAS Board at its June 16, 2020 meeting.

From design through to delivery, quality is a cornerstone of what we do here at Centennial and I know many of you take great pride in being a part of this endeavour and so you should; the OCQAS report bears great testimony to the work you do!

The progress we have made towards completion of the many stipulations is a significant achievement. I would like to thank the Academic Quality Team and the myriad departments and individuals who adopted a cohesive, program quality management approach to this work, for your sterling efforts in maintaining the momentum and continuing to attain the highest quality audit measures possible. Well done and thank you!

The work though, doesn’t stop here. Regardless of the multiple institutional and business challenges that COVID-19 presents, we will continue to carry out the intended actions outlined in our audit report and will be sure to keep you updated.

With best wishes and appreciation,

Dr. Craig Stephenson
President and CEO, Centennial College
