Two students receive Future Heroes Award bursary from CIBC

Two Centennial College students have been selected to receive a $2,500 bursary each from the Future Heroes Award program sponsored by the CIBC bank. Shelby Exil, in our Biomedical Engineering diploma program, and Christy Vo in our Bachelor of Science Nursing degree program, are the deserving recipients of this annual bursary program chosen by Universities Canada. Centennial is hoping to encourage more applications for the 2021-2022 academic year, which will be the final year of the CIBC Future Heroes Bursary program. CIBC continues to be a strong supporter of Centennial and our students. The Canadian bank provided $50,000 to Centennial’s Covid-19 Relief Bursary fund earlier this summer.

New ‘Grab & Go’ service expands Library access

While our campus libraries are able to provide access to numerous online resources, we know that our print collection is an important part of learning and teaching, too. That’s why our libraries are rolling out a Grab & Go service at all five campuses. Watch our video to learn more about this new service. You can now place holds on items that you would like to borrow through the online catalogue. You will receive an email to confirm an appointment once your item is ready for pickup.

To return items currently checked out, book an appointment online. All returned items are quarantined for 96 hours before we remove them from your account. Faculty are also welcome to borrow items from our Emerging Technology collection for use in course development; more information is available in our tech guide. Questions about the service? Live Library support is available through online chat, email or phone.

Scherry George has left the building

Scherry joined us in 1980 as a scheduling clerk after moving to Toronto from New Brunswick with Ed, her husband. In 1981 she took on the role of student financial aid officer and never looked back, remaining a dedicated member of the financial aid team throughout her long career. Scherry has served generations of students who have faced obstacles to education and employment, working to give them the resources needed to succeed.
