The Communications and Media Foundations program is a one year, intensive preparation program. The program focuses on developing communications skills while introducing students to the Communications and Media industries. Students will develop fundamentals for success in C&M fields, through practical application of skills, guided by industry professionals.
In this program, you will:
- Create and maintain a forum in social media networks using rich media applications.
- Apply theoretical principles to produce practical, focused written communications and media solutions.
- Research and describe media forms, audiences, platforms, and "traditional" and non- traditional communication methods.
- Use appropriate vocabulary, terminology, basic numeracy and communicative strategies necessary in the communications and media environment.
- Apply developed English language skills to a presentation portfolio.
- Write and present in basic narrative formats for a variety of media platforms.
- Examine one's roles and responsibilities as a global citizen in personal and professional life.
- Examine beliefs, values and behaviours that form individual and community identities and the basis for respectful relationships.
- Apply knowledge of communications and media workplaces, environments and practices to develop one's job search strategies and early career success strategies.

The Communications and Media Foundations program will provide a pathway for students who would like to pursue further post secondary education.
Upon successful completion of the Communications & Media Foundations program, students will receive an offer to the following programs at Centennial College:
- Advertising & Marketing Communications Management Advanced Diploma Program (three-year)
- Journalism Advanced Diploma Program (three-year)
- Broadcasting and Film Advanced Diploma Program (three-year)

- Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD) or equivalent, or mature student status (19 years or older)
Academic Requirements
Note:
Applicants who apply to, but who do not meet the admission requirements for Broadcasting and Film, Journalism, or Advertising and Marketing Communication Management, may receive an alternate offer to the Communications and Media Foundations program.
