Automotive Service Technician General Motors of Canada ASEP (MAP 32) 8687

The in-School training portion of the program has students in the General Motors Automotive Service Education Program (ASEP) alternate between the college and their employer for a total of 64 weeks (32 weeks with each). The training encompasses all of the latest GM vehicle systems, with emphasis on diagnosis and repair following recommended GM service procedures. A large portion of the program involves vehicle electrical and electronic systems diagnosis and repair. Upon successful completion, you will complete your on-the-job experience and apprenticeship with your General Motors employer.

During the 32 weeks of in-class training, students will be required to successfully complete the following 5 courses:

• Motor Vehicle Gear Trains
• Electrical/Electronics & Fuel Systems
• Motor Vehicle Engine Systems
• Applied Work Practices and Procedures
• Suspension/Steering and Brakes

Program Highlights


• You will receive pay during apprenticeship.
• Training is more in-depth with in-school sessions being longer than traditional apprenticeships.
• Upon successful completion of the in-school and In Dealership Work Assignments, you will receive up to  21 GM Dealer Technician Training Credits.

 Students enrolled in MAPs may be eligible for EI (employment insurance) during the in-class training

Eligibility

• Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD) or equivalent, or GED (General Educational Development)

Non-academic Requirements

• Applicant must be employed as an automotive apprentice at a General Motors of Canada dealership
