A conceptual framework helps to organize our understanding of – and approach to – academic scholarship in the context of 21st century post-secondary teaching and learning. We apply the framework to better organize our understanding of SoTL and this represents domains and pathways to teaching excellence, innovation, and student engagement/success. This framework incorporates broader kinds of 21st-century teacher knowledge, including foundation knowledge, such as teaching skills and digital, research and cross-disciplinary literacies, as well as internationalization in education; humanistic knowledge, which includes ethical/emotional awareness, and values and issues of diversity and difference in the classroom; and meta knowledge, such as creativity and innovation, problem solving and critical reflection, and communication and collaboration across disciplines.
Refer to the following link for SoTL Framework. This diagram represents the Scholarship of Teaching and Learning (SoTL) framework used by Centennial College. This evidence-based framework takes an integrated approach to academic scholarship and reflects the College's emphasis on global citizenship, equity, inclusion and valuing multiple ways of knowing, being and learning.
