Harassment and Discrimination Policies and Procedures Review

Njeri Sojourner-Campbell and Dr. Cynthia Wesley-Equimaux

Centennial College acknowledges that its missional goals cannot be achieved without first creating an environment free from harassment and discrimination. This awareness is reflected in our Institutional Business Plan, the Academic Plan and the Anti-Black Racism Task Force Institutional Commitments.
In January 2022, the College initiated a third-party review of this architecture with the further understanding that recommendations from the review would be implemented. Lawyer Njeri Damali Sojourner Cambell JD, MEd and Indigenous educator and cultural guide Dr. Cynthia Wesley Esquimaux were retained for the purpose. From the ensuing interviews, focus groups, co-creative drafting and internal technical review, a new harassment and human rights infrastructure has been developed for the Centennial comprised of the following documents: (1) Human Rights Policy; (2) Harassment and Violence Prevention Policy; (3) Harassment and Discrimination Prevention Procedures; and (4) Violence Prevention Procedures – Complaints against employees; Complaints against students; Complaints against other community members.

In November 2023, these Policy and Procedures were approved by Centennial College’s Policy and Procedures Committee and Executive Team. For more information, please visit Policy and Procedures.
