Program Description
Program Code: 6831
The Centennial College Certificate in Inclusive Leadership Practices is a four-course program that provides the opportunity to examine the theories, models, and practices of inclusive leadership required in contemporary workplaces. Students will define their own leadership philosophy through examining their personal values, beliefs, and attitudes. They will learn leadership strategies for effectively managing and leading organizational change, as well as focus on leadership practices that can build a positive and inclusive organizational culture. Students will engage in reflective practice in support of building the leadership skills that are necessary to create a diverse, effective, and inclusive environment in 21st century workplaces. Upon completion of the program, graduates will have leadership skills and knowledge to lead and support inclusive practices in the global workplace as well as earn a Centennial College Certificate.
Students are required to take GNED 400, GNED 401, GNED 402, and GNED 500 in order to complete the credential. Two of these courses will be taken as the GNED electives. The GNED 500 remains a requirement as specified in the student diploma program. The outstanding course must be taken in addition to your model route and an additional tuition fee will be applied.
Program Outline
This course provides students with the opportunity to analyze the evolving nature of contemporary workplaces in an increasingly globalized world. Various models of leadership will be examined with a focus on practices that build effective work environments. Students will explore and reflect on their own values and beliefs relative to leadership practices.
Prerequisite: GNED-400
This course further explores the contemporary workplace emphasizing intercultural competence and organizational cultures in the context of diversity and inclusion. Students will examine organizational barriers, and power relations that result in inequities in the workplace. Students will investigate change management processes that can build high-functioning, inclusive workplaces that draw on the diverse strengths of all staff members and employees.
Prerequisite: GNED-401
In this course in the Inclusive Leadership Practices Certificate program, the focus will be on defining inclusive leadership strategies for effectively leading and managing organizational change. Students will examine these strategies and reflect on them to support their own growth as effective leaders for inclusion. Students will research the leadership of a current workplace as it relates to the focus on inclusive leadership practices.
Global citizenship provides students with an opportunity to gain the knowledge and skills required to live and work in a world that is globally interconnected. Students will examine and critically analyze social problems, gain an understanding of identity and values, develop an awareness of media conglomeration, power and control, and investigate issues of equality and equity using different perspectives to develop a plan for social action that will bring about positive change. This course allows students to develop a sound understanding of what it means to be a global citizen, both personally and professionally, and the ways in which they can make a contribution to an equitable society and world.
