Captions, Transcripts, and Interpreters

Centennial College is steadfastly committed to fostering an accessible and welcoming learning, working, and living environment. In line with this commitment, we have structured our accessibility initiatives into three key sections:

Live Captioning

The availability of captioning at Centennial College ensures maximized engagement and participation of all individuals. For small events, automated captioning found on most online platforms, such as Zoom and Microsoft Teams, will be available. For large events, Live Captioning is highly recommended and is the responsibility of the respective Department/Division to book and fund through their own budgets. Please note, institutional events will be funded through the Accessibility and UDL Office within the Innovation, Inclusion, Reconciliation and Healing (IIRH) Portfolio. Institutional events are defined as gatherings that align with or further the current strategic commitments and are open for the entire College community to attend.

Multimedia Caption and Transcription

Centennial College is also committed to providing accessible multimedia content, including captions and transcripts for videos, audios, and podcasts. Each Department/Division is entrusted with the responsibility of ensuring the provision of these accessibility features and covering any related costs within their assigned budgets.

Interpretation

In ongoing efforts to enhance accessibility, Centennial College is excited to announce the development of a new procedure for interpretation services. This initiative aims to ensure effective communication for individuals with diverse linguistic backgrounds or hearing impairments. The responsibility of booking and funding interpretation services lies with the respective Department/Division.
