Dr. Craig Stephenson

President and Chief Executive Officer

Dr. Craig Stephenson was appointed in 2019, bringing a wealth of global experience spanning two continents, three countries, and several higher education institutions. A firm believer in the power of education to expand students’ worldviews and strengthen intercultural understanding, Craig, together with community members, has championed several initiatives to strengthen inclusive and equity-based practices, confront anti-Black and anti-Indigenous racism and address the imperatives of Truth and Reconciliation, including the implementation of the Anti-Black Racism Commitments and closing of the College on Truth and Reconciliation Day, for self-reflection and engagement with Indigenous peoples. His dedication to ‘all things students has driven substantial growth in scholarships, bursaries, grants, and work-integrated learning. His emphasis on empowerment, well-being, and sustainability has led to Centennial’s recognition as one of the GTA’s Top Employers for three consecutive years, as well as Forbes’ Best Employers in Canada, 2025, and Canada’s Greenest Employers, 2024.  He has also received a Queen’s Platinum Jubilee Pin and King Charles Coronation Medal for his service to the community – during and after the pandemic – in recognition of his work in Scarborough to support community health, local economic initiatives and champion inclusion. With his trademark passion, Craig is committed to ensuring that the College, which he fondly refers to as “a gem of an institution,” emerges stronger from the current challenging times and thrives for years to come. By virtue of his role, he is a full member of the Board and an ex officio member of the Board’s Standing Committees.
