Providing Financial Assistance to Indigenous Students

This year you can choose to support the Joseph McQuabbie Memorial Scholarship or the Ka-naadmaadmi Bursary.

Joseph McQuabbie Memorial Scholarship

We are accepting donations for the Joseph McQuabbie Memorial Scholarship to assist Indigenous students with expenses during their post-secondary studies. A proud Anishinaabe, Joseph’s accomplishments as the first Indigenous Outreach Coordinator cannot be understated. He regarded the work as a calling to bridge the harmed relationship between the educational sector and Indigenous people, notably to help his community and members of all Indigenous Nations. Sadly, he passed away far too soon in October 2020. What an incredible legacy to honour such a leading figure in the journey toward stronger and more meaningful relationships for all people at Centennial. Please consider donating to the memorial scholarship named for such a beloved team member and community leader

Ka-naadmaadmi Bursary

'Ka-naadmaadmi', an Anishnaabemowin term from the dialect specific to Wiikwemkoong, translates to "we will help each other". This award has been created to assist Indigenous students with financial expenses during post-secondary studies and was established in partnership with Student Financial Services, CCSAI and the Place of Reconciliation for All Our Relations last year.
