I have come to embrace my queerness through the networks of love that I’ve built, and the “care-work” that I do as an early childhood educator, scholar, and community caregiver. The process of self-acceptance as a queer and Chinese person hasn’t been easy, and healing from those experiences is ongoing. Still, I am reminded by friends, families, mentors, and community that my life is full of love.
Not everyone will be ready to join this journey towards creating a more kind and “queer” world – and that is okay. There is already a community of people who “are ready,” and who are already doing the work for a queer future to be realized. As a community of misfits and dreamers, we, queer and trans folks, will strive to foster safe spaces for all, and we will always welcome anyone who wants to join us in dreaming and nurturing sustainable, queer, and decolonized worlds.
