Lauren Wolman

Manager, Research and Strategic Initiatives, EDI

Although I don’t identify as 2SLGBTQQIA+ I am committed to supporting the community. Striving to be an ally is very important, as well as having a role to play in enacting social change. I have always been vocal about fighting inequity and social norms - which probably started when my dad was adamant that I engaged in ballet, when all I wanted to do play team sports. Many people at Centennial College know that I have a real passion for sport equity, inclusion and diversity and I have been very vocal about the trans ban that has been actioned by many rugby unions in the UK. This has led to my position on the Board of Rugby Canada, where EDI is always interlaced with my contributions. My passion for supporting the 2SLGBTQQIA+ community comes from the many friendships I have made and more specifically my brother, who is a queer strength training coach. His commitment to providing an environment where people can truly be themselves and a ‘Pay-What-You-Want’ services for the Trans/Non-Binary community has been inspiring.
