Synchronous online learning:
Students are expected to log into their course from their computers/laptops on specific days, at specific times. The course is delivered online at a scheduled time.
Asynchronous online learning:
Students can log into their course any time, day or night that works for their schedule.
There is a defined start and end date for each course, and a critical path that you must adhere to in order to meet tests and assignments deadlines.
Some courses may include online group work and/or online discussion forums.
Online Programs and Courses at Centennial College are offered in two ways:
- OntarioLearn – identified on our website as "OntarioLearn" campus
- eCentennial – identified on our website as "Distance Online" campus
Each “campus” has its own unique fee structure and login/course access process. Therefore it is important to note when registering into a course whether it is an OntarioLearn course or an eCentennial course.
Note: If you are a Full-Time or Part-Time Post-secondary student, you will have to pay an extra administrative fee (non-refundable) in addition to your tuition fee if you register for an OntarioLearn course.
When registering for an online course, please note the campus of the course section you are registering for.
- OntarioLearn course – Campus is 'OntarioLearn'
- eCentennial course – Campus is 'Distance Online'
Most of our Part-time Online courses are offered through OntarioLearn. The Centre for Online Learning and Microcredentials (COLM) administers all programs and courses offered through OntarioLearn.
Yes, you will be able to connect with your instructor (as well as your classmates) for an online course. Instructor’s contact information will be provided within your course information and you will be able to access this information once you login to OntarioLearn portal (for courses delivered through OntarioLearn) and eCentennial portal (for courses delivered as Distance Online).
In order to complete an OntarioLearn course as part of your full-time program, please contact the School/Department that oversees the full-time program you are studying.
If you are interested in a course that is showing up as part of a full-time program, then please reach out to the respective School/Dept. (contact information is on the website) that administers the program to inquire if they will allow non-full-time students to join/register into the course.

- Sign in to your account with your student number and password.
Step 3 - Navigate to Student Services
- Select Student, then select Student Services from the side-navigation menu.
Step 4 - Navigate to Update Addresses and Phones
- Under the Personal Information section, select Update Addresses and Phones.
Step 5 - Verify your address
- Verify if we have the correct address for you or update your information if it is incorrect.
Step 6 - Click Submit
- Ensure you scroll to the bottom of the page and click Submit to save your changes.
