Distance Correspondence Courses

Distance correspondence are print-based courses which are highly independent courses. You learn via a paper-based course package and associated materials, such as a textbook.

Each course is approximately 5 months long (20 or 21 weeks in duration).

How it works:

  • You work through the course package, which includes a Welcome Letter, Student Handbook, and Learner Guide independently, according to the schedule provided
  • You complete tests/quizzes (either online or paper-based) and send assignments by email to your course facilitator according to set deadlines included in the course package
  • If you have questions about the course material, you can reach out to the course facilitator by email, with response time of 2 business days (48 hours)
  • You will need to have access to email in order to submit assignments, and the internet in order to complete tests/quizzes

It is important to ensure you provide your current mailing address when you register so that the course package can be mailed to you. If you are an on-campus student, you will be informed when your course package is ready for on-campus pick-up.

Textbooks and Additional Materials: Required textbooks or additional materials are purchased separately at an additional cost. Textbook information is shared in the Welcome Letter. Please read it carefully once you receive your course package, and make sure that you purchase the correct textbook.

Registration and Getting Started:

When registering, ensure you confirm your current mailing address so that the course package can be mailed to you. If you have trouble registering, click here for assistance (link to FAQ ways to register).

After registration, participants will receive a Registration Confirmation Letter from Enrolment Services by email. Your 9-digit student number will be on this letter.

3-4 weeks prior to the course start date, you will receive an e-mail from the Centre for Online Learning & Microcredentials (online@centennialcollege.ca) sent to your personal email as well as to your MyCentennial email address with information about what to expect and when your course package will be ready for pick up or shipped out.

1 weeks prior to your course start, you will receive your Learner Guide (course modules/lessons), a Welcome Letter, and a Student Handbook with information relevant to distance correspondence courses.

IMPORTANT: If you registered late or close to the start date, then the emails will be sent one business day after your registration has gone through, NOT on the same day.
