If you are taking a course as an individual course for professional development, and you feel that you have past work or educational experience that has provided you with the prerequisite knowledge and skills, then you can request to have the prerequisite course waived. To do this:
- Send an email to online@centennialcollege.ca that includes the following information:
- Your full name
- Your student ID number
- The course title and code of the course you wish to enroll in that has a prerequisite
- Confirmation that you are not completing a program, but are taking the course as an individual course
- If you are completing a program, explain which program and whether this course is part of that model route.
- A copy of your resume or transcripts or narrative explaining how you feel you’ve already met the prerequisite requirement for the course
- Once all of this information is received, it will be reviewed by the Chair and you will receive email confirmation of approval status.
* If a course requires a prerequisite, it means that students will be expected to know the material covered in the prerequisite course prior to starting the course in question. Therefore, students should carefully consider taking the prerequisite course before taking the course in question.
* If you are completing a program, and the model route includes the prerequisite course, you will be expected to complete the prerequisite course, or seek a formal transfer credit/PLAR (this applies only for courses which are eligible). Information on transfer credit can be found here: https://www.centennialcollege.ca/admissions/pathways-and-partnerships/pathways-to-credit/transfer-credit/.
