Drew Berry is a multidisciplinary artist and educator based in Toronto with dance, theatre, photography, videography, and classical piano expertise. As an active dance community member over the past decade, she has garnered recognition as a performer, notably with Rock Bottom Movement (RBM). Drew joined RBM as a company member in 2016 and has since performed in six full-length works and toured across Canada. With RBM, she has participated in residencies at the Banff Centre for Arts and Creativity, Canadian Stage, Canada's National Ballet Open Space Program, and Toronto Dance Theatre. RBM's productions of Sex Dalmatian and Hollow Mountain were both awarded multiple Dora Mavor Moore awards, including Outstanding Production and Outstanding Performance by an Ensemble.
Alongside her performance career, Drew has discovered a profound passion for dance photography and videography, offering a unique perspective as a dance artist herself. Drew's fascination is documenting artistic processes and on-stage moments, and has collaborated with various independent artists, dance companies and institutions. Drew is the resident photographer/videographer with Kaeja d'Dance and has done freelance photo/video work with Kaya Usher, Fall For Dance North, Canadian Contemporary Dance Theatre, Toronto Metropolitan University, and Human Body Expression, to name a few. Drew was an artist in residence for the 2020/21 season at Guelph Dance, where she created a short film, Portraiture. The film premiered at the 2021 Guelph Dance Festival and was featured at Hillside Homeside and Dance Made in Canada where it received the Moving Pictures Award. It is currently a part of the Regards Hybride collection, which is a collection of 60 Canadian cinema dance works from the 1960s to the present day. Drew also works with Quinte Ballet School of Canada as their Social Media Manager and has worked with Kaeja d'Dance as a marketing and development assistant, production assistant, and assistant stage manager.
Other collaborators include Frog in Hand, Emma Kerson, Nico Al Ajillio, Irma Villafuerte, Kate Hilliard, Opera 5, Alias Dance Project, and Nostos Collective. Film/TV Credits include Titans TV series (Netflix), Stevie (Alter Ego Films), Mary Kills People (Global), Reign (The CW), and A Nutcracker Christmas (Hallmark). Drew is on faculty at Centennial College, teaching in the Dance and Performing Arts Fundamentals Programs. A graduate of Quinte Ballet School of Canada's post-graduate program, Drew holds her BFA (Honours) from the Performance Dance program at Toronto Metropolitan University.
