Curtis Freeman is an in demand bass player, studio bassist and music educator.
Curtis is the 2022 Mississauga Music Musician of the Year and the MARTY winner for Instrumental Artist of the Year 2022.
Curtis has travelled and performed in over forty countries worldwide, working with several talented Pop, Rock, Country, World Music, Gospel, and Jazz groups.
Curtis has performed with several award winning musicians including Canadian rockers Suzie McNeil, Kim Mitchell, Rik Emmett (Triumph), Colin James, Treble Charger, Aboriginal Artist Susan Aglukark, 80's rap icon (and Grammy nominee) Tone Lōc, singer-songwriters Amy Sky and Marc Jordan as well as Grammy winners Paul Brown (Luther Vandross), Liberty Silver, and Canadian singer/songwriter Dan Hill.
In 2017, Curtis was hired as bassist for nine-time Grammy nominee, Hollywood ‘walk of fame’ recipient and smooth jazz saxophone sensation Dave Koz.
Curtis was featured in three PBS Specials backing Canadian Guitar master Pavlo: ‘Live in Santorini’, ’Pavlo Live from Guadalajara’ and Pavlo Live from Santorini’.
Curtis toured with Pavlo across Canada opening for José Feliciano, The Tenors and The Gypsy Kings, playing large sold-out venues including the Air Canada Centre (Scotiabank Arena).
Curtis is a music professor at Centennial College in the heart of Toronto’s busy music scene.
Curtis is a respected studio musician and has recorded on several independent and hit albums with many artists. Curtis has recorded an instrumental EP under his own name titled “Postcards” and a vocal EP titled “Love is a Painting”. Curtis has also recorded a Christmas album with his identical twin brother, saxophonist Carson Freeman titled “The Freeman Brothers Merry Little Christmas Album”.
Curtis volunteers and performs as bassist at the BIC Church Collective in Oakville Ontario and at Portico Church in Mississauga.
