Kala Subramaniam earned her Bachelor of Science in Occupational Therapy from Queen’s University in 1995 and her Master of Rehabilitation Science from the University of Toronto in 2001. She completed her Teaching and Learning in Higher Education Certificate at Centennial College in 2021.
With 30 years of experience as an Occupational Therapist, Kala has specialized in neurosurgery and trauma, feeding, school health support services, neurodevelopment and role emerging OTA placements. She has served as a clinical specialist, researcher, and academic leader in diverse settings, including The Hospital for Sick Children, VHA Rehab Solutions, Scarborough Paediatric Occupational Therapy Services (her private practice), and in higher education at the University of Toronto and Centennial College.
Kala has been a Professor in the Occupational Therapist Assistant and Physiotherapist Assistant (OTA & PTA) program at Centennial College since 2016 and has also taught in the Centre for Faculty Development and Teaching Innovation at Centennial.
Outside of work, Kala is a creative coach to family and friends as an avid card maker and enjoys reading and spending time with her family.
