Preventing and Controlling Infections in Non Acute Care Settings is an 8-week (28 hour) asynchronous online course. It is designed for all currently employed healthcare providers and administrators tasked with the role of assessing, implementing and/or overseeing the implementation of an infection prevention and control (IPAC) program in a non-acute care setting, such as a long-term care or retirement home.
This course provides participants with foundational IPAC knowledge for preventing the transmission of organisms and for the effective management of outbreaks in congregate settings. Upon completion learners may be prepared to successfully complete their a-IPC (Associate – Infection Prevention and Control) entry-level certification examination through the Certification Board of Infection Control and Epidemiology.
Note that this course is not designed to prepare learners to attain their CIC (Certified Infection Prevention and Control) credentialing which identifies healthcare professionals who have shown mastery of knowledge in infection prevention and control.
To confirm that applicants have the pre-requirements for success in this course, anyone applying is required to have their professional healthcare registration number ready and supporting documents of employment to upload into the course assessment dropbox. These will be securely stored in your course file. Your registration will be confirmed with an e-mail receipt from the College.
